Meeting new people

Meeting new people is always interesting. But even though I pride myself on being an extrovert I still feel a little nervous when I'm meeting new people. I'm almost always okay after the first meeting. And I know it's got nothing to do with my personality, because I'm very comfortable with who I am and I have no problems with a lack of confidence.

I wonder if there's anyone out there who doesn't feel the slightest bit nervous when meeting someone new, be it in a social setting or for business. When I make sales calls, I psyche myself out thinking the guy on the other end is just as nervous as you are. May be it's true or may be it's not. But it helps me get through. I guess cocktail parties are a great way to meet new people, because one doesn't feel as intimidated when you've thrown back a couple. Yet even without the cocktails some people seem so natural at it. It really makes me wonder if they're just like that or they're doing a fantastic job covering up any inhibitions they have.
